Happiness Is Something (July Week 1) [Class 2]

Hello boys,

In this video, we will learn how to sing the song "Happiness Is Something If You Give It Away."

Some boys could not attend the Google Classroom today. So, kindly go through the video and learn the song.

Lyrics:
Happiness is something if you give it away,
You give it away, you give it away.
Happiness is something if you give it away,
And it comes right back to you

Oh, it's like a magic penny,
Hold on tight and you won't get any.
Lend it, spend it, give it away
And it comes right back to you

Love is something if you give it away,
You give it away, you give it away.
Love is something if you give it away,
And it comes right back to you

Oh, it's like a magic penny,
Hold on tight and you won't get any.
Lend it, spend it, give it away
And it comes right back to you

A hug is something if you give it away,
You give it away, you give it away.
A hug is something if you give it away,
And it comes right back to you

Oh, it's like a magic penny,
Hold on tight and you won't get any.
Lend it, spend it, give it away
And it comes right back to you

Welcome, dear children!

I'm equally excited as you are to bring to you today some benefits of singing. (Benefit means usefulness). I want you to listen to the video and learn about the benefits of singing. And after you finish the lesson I want you to go back to last week's lesson and learn and sing the song "Good Manners Song" once again. I know it is a long song, so I want you to go back and sing the song once again.

After you have watched this video, now sing the song from last week again.
"Good Manners"

Please, remember to cover your mouth
When you sneeze or when you cough.
Use a tissue and wash your hands.
That is always the best plan.
Use your manners everywhere,

Don’t forget the magic words,
You must use them wherever you go.
Thank you, sorry, excuse me, please,
Are kind words to say you’ll see!

Use your manners everywhere,
Anytime and anywhere.
Good manners matter,
All of them you have to master.

Be respectful all the time.
Wait your turn and be on time.
Keep your hands to yourself,
Listen when others are talking as well.

Use your manners everywhere,
Anytime and anywhere.
Good manners matter,
All of them you have to master.

Don’t forget the magic words,
You must use them wherever you go.
Thank you, sorry, excuse me, please,
Are kind words to say you’ll see!

Week 2 - Lesson #2 - Lavender's Blue (Class 2)

Hello Children!

I hope you are all learning at home and making good progress. I'm really excited to introduce this song to you all! Did you like the song from last week? I hope you do.

This week's song is from the fairy tale called Cinderella. Do you all know the story of Cinderella? If you don't know it, I will tell you the story when school begins again. Or you can ask your parents to open the story of Cinderella in YouTube and listen and watch the story. Otherwise, you can also read the simple version from the internet. It is so much fun to read and learn a new story. Try it!

Now, let's learn the song together. It's a rather long song, so take your time and learn slowly. Don't be in a hurry to learn everything at once.

Note to parents: Dear parents, kindly do not be overwhelmed by the length of the song. Please allow your child to take time to learn the song slowly.

Lavender's Blue (Dilly Dilly)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, lavender's green,
When I am king, dilly, dilly, you shall be queen.

Who told you so, dilly, dilly, who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly, dilly, that told me so.

Call up your men, dilly, dilly, set them to work
Some to the plow, dilly, dilly, some to the fork,

Some to make hay, dilly, dilly, some to cut corn,
While you and I, dilly, dilly, keep ourselves warm.

Lavender's green, dilly, dilly, Lavender's blue,
If you love me, dilly, dilly, I will love you.

Let the birds sing, dilly, dilly, And the lambs play;
We shall be safe, dilly, dilly, out of harm's way.

I love to dance, dilly, dilly, I love to sing;
When I am queen, dilly, dilly, You'll be my king.

Who told me so, dilly, dilly, Who told me so?
I told myself, dilly, dilly, I told me so.

Please enjoy the song and learn it well.

See you in the next lesson.

Week 1 - Lesson #1 - Oh My Darling, Clementine

Dear children,

Welcome to the first lesson of the academic year. Congrats to all of you for having made it thus far! So, let's maintain a proper notebook for our Western Music class this year and cover it nicely in RED. Write the lyrics (words) of all the songs that are uploaded here each week. Write proper titles of the song with date. I will check your notebooks when we resume school.

Note to parents: please note the changes made in the post. Since there is no assigned notebooks for Western Music, please do not write down the songs in any notebook. Refer to this lesson/blog for the song lyrics. As much as possible, kindly make your children learn and memorise the songs given in each lesson. You must also have received the syllabus booklet. All the songs are already there in the booklet under the Western Music curriculum. Kindly refer to the same.

Learning outcome:

  1. Learn a folk song
  2. Understand the meaning of new words in the song

Today's song is "Oh, My Darling Clementine"

Write down the lyrics in your notebook

Oh My Darling, Clementine

[Verse 1]
In a cavern, in a canyon,
Excavating for a mine
Dwelt a miner forty niner,
And his daughter Clementine

[Chorus]
Oh my darling, oh my darling,
Oh my darling, Clementine!
Thou art lost and gone forever
Dreadful sorry, Clementine

[Verse 2]
Light she was and like a fairy,
And her shoes were number nine,
Herring boxes, without topses,
Sandals were for Clementine. -- [Chorus]

[Verse 3]
Drove she ducklings to the water
Ev'ry morning just at nine,
Hit her foot against a splinter,
Fell into the foaming brine. -- [Chorus]

[Verse 4]
Ruby lips above the water,
Blowing bubbles, soft and fine,
But, alas, I was no swimmer,
So I lost my Clementine. -- [Chorus]

[Verse 5]
How I missed her! How I missed her,
How I missed my Clementine,
But I kissed her little sister,
I forgot my Clementine. --  [Chorus]

Are you able to sing without the music now?

Have you written down the lyrics in your notebook?

Learn the song by heart and sing without looking at the video or the notebook.

- - - - - - - -

Oh, so many new words in just one song! Did you see that some words in the songs are underlined? Can you find the meaning of those words and write it down in the notebook after you have written down the song?

- - - - - - - -

Send me a thumbs up 👍 in the comment section below if you've seen this lesson. Write your Name, Class with section and Roll No.

If you have any questions, kindly post it in the comments section below.

- - - - - - - -

Please Note: Do not write the full song in one day! Write it over a course of one week. Write one verse a day and learn the song. The purpose of your writing is so that you don't forget the song after a few months. And even if you do, we can always go back to the notebook and check it again.

Welcome Children. Let's Look Back.

Welcome dear children.

Let's make learning fun!

I'm sure you're learning how to use the computer, click with the mouse and type on the keyboard from your computer class. Now, let's put these skills to good use as you learn online.

Do you remember the song, "If I Were A Butterfly," from your previous class when you were in first standard? I know you do. ☺

So, today, let us do a quick revision of that song just so that you don't forget what you have learned. Move around your mouse and click on the video below and sing along. 👇

Very good!

Now, don't forget the songs we have learned in the last session. Keep them handy; remember with your mind and sing with your mouth. So simple!

Now, we will meet again in the next class.

Until then, take care and stay safe.
