Today we will learn a fun song called "Yankee Doodle"
First, you listen to me in the video below and then you can sing along with the video after that, along with the lyrics.

Lyrics:

Yankee Doodle went to town
Riding on a pony
He stuck a feather in his hat
And called it macaroni

Chorus:
Yankee Doodle, keep it up
Yankee Doodle dandy
Mind the music and the step
and with the girls be handy!

Father and I went down to camp
Along with Captain Gooding
And there we saw the men and boys
As thick as hasty pudding.

This week, let us learn a new song which will be very helpful at this time when we are all staying at home because of the virus. This song is about keeping yourself clean and learning to wash hands properly. Learn the song well and put it into practice.

The song is called:
Wash Your Hands

Please learn it by heart and sing it.

Germs can cause a runny nose
Germs from coughs and colds and flues
Stop spreading germs at home and school
Wash your hands, that's what you do!

Wash, wash, wash your hands
Get them nice and clean
Wash them on top
Wash them below and fingers in between

Germs can cause a runny nose
Germs from coughs and colds and flues
Stop spreading germs at home and school
Wash your hands, that's what you should do!
Wash your hands, that's what you should do!
Wash your hands, that's what you should do!

And remember, if you want to stay healthy, wash your hands!

See you again next week.

Week 2 - Lesson #2 - Hello To All The Children (Class 1)

Dear children,

I hope you had a fantastic week! And I believe you have already learned a lot of things in the first week of school. I also hope that you liked the first song we learned in the first week. Please continue to sing it and learn till you don't forget it anymore.

This week, we will learn a very interesting song that you will love to sing with all your heart.

Alright, let's learn the song now. It's called:
"Hello To All The Children Of The World"

[Refrain]
Hello, Bonjour, Buenos dias!
G'day, Guten-Tag, Konichiwa...
Ciao, Shalom, Do-Brey dien,
Hello to all the children of the world!

[Verse 1]
We live in different places from all around the world.
We speak in many different ways!
Though some things may be different,
We're children just the same-
And we all like to sing and play!

[Refrain]
Hello, Bonjour, Buenos dias!
G'day, Guten-Tag, Konichiwa...
Ciao, Shalom, Do-Brey dien,
Hello to all the children of the world!

There are children in the deserts,
And children in the towns,
And children who live down by the sea!
If we could meet each other,
To run and sing and play-
Then what good friends we all could be!

Hello, Bonjour, Buenos dias!
G'day, Guten-Tag, Konichiwa...
Ciao, Shalom, Do-Brey dien,
Hello to all the children of the world!

Did you like the song? I hope you do.

Please learn it by heart and we will all sing together when school resumes.

That's all for this week. See you again soon. 😊

If you've seen this lesson, please mark your attendance with your Name, Class with section and Roll No.

Week 1 - Lesson #1 - If You're Happy And You Know It

Dear children,

Welcome to the first lesson of the academic year. Congrats to all of you for having made it thus far! So, let's maintain a proper notebook for our Western Music class this year and cover it nicely in RED. Write the lyrics (words) of all the songs that are uploaded here each week. Write proper titles of the song with date. I will check your notebooks when we resume school.

Note to parents: please note the changes made in the post. Since there is no assigned notebooks for Western Music, please do not write down the songs in any notebook. Refer to this lesson/blog for the song lyrics. As much as possible, kindly make your children learn and memorise the songs given in each lesson. You must also have received the syllabus booklet. All the songs are already there in the booklet under the Western Music curriculum. Kindly refer to the same.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Learn to follow a simple rhythm without breaking the pattern
  2. Do the actions according to the song

Today's song is "If You're Happy And You Know It"

Write down the lyrics in your notebook

If You're Happy And You Know It

[Verse 1]
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands
If you're happy and you know it
And you really want to show it
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands

[Verse 2]
If you're happy and you know it, stamp your feet
If you're happy and you know it, stamp your feet
If you're happy and you know it
And you really want to show it
If you're happy and you know it, stamp your feet

[Verse 3]
If you're happy and you know it, turn around (Ha-ha!)
If you're happy and you know it, turn around (Ha-ha!)
If you're happy and you know it
And you really want to show it
If you're happy and you know it, turn around (Ha-ha!)

[Verse 4]
If you're happy and you know it, shout hooray (Hooray!)
If you're happy and you know it, shout hooray (Hooray!)
If you're happy and you know it
And you really want to show it
If you're happy and you know it, shout hooray (Hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, shout hooray (Hooray!)
If you're happy and you know it, shout hooray (Hooray!)

- - - - - - - -

Now try singing the following verses in the same tune as the video

[Verse 5]
If you're happy and you know it, snap your fingers
If you're happy and you know it, snap your fingers
If you're happy and you know it
And you really want to show it
If you're happy and you know it, snap your fingers

[Verse 6]
If you're happy and you know it, tap your head
If you're happy and you know it, tap your head
If you're happy and you know it
And you really want to show it
If you're happy and you know it, tap your head

- - - - - - - -

Are you able to sing without the music now?

Have you written down the lyrics in your notebook?

Learn the song by heart and sing without looking at the video or the notebook.

Send me a thumbs up 👍 in the comment section below if you've seen this lesson. Write your Name, Class with section and Roll No.

If you have any questions, kindly post it in the comments section below.

- - - - - - - -

Please Note: Do not write the full song in one day! Write it over a course of one week. Write one verse a day and learn the song. The purpose of your writing is so that you don't forget the song after a few months. And even if you do, we can always go back to the notebook and check it again.

Welcome Back, Dear Children

Welcome back, dear little ones!

If you're here for the first time, don't worry. We will make learning fun online as much as we do in the classroom.

Now, I know you must be starting to forget some of the songs we have sung last year. So let us refresh our memory a little bit, shall we?

Below, you'll find one of our favourite song from the past year, "Skip To My Lou". Sing this song with your mouth wide open and you can dance around as you sing.

(This YouTube video may be a little faster than we usually sing. But buckle up! You're big boys now and you should be able to sing and follow the song).

Now, that was not so hard, is it?

In the coming days, we will have so much more fun learning online. So get yourselves ready for a lot of fun.

That's all for today. We will meet again in the next class.
